We are looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Procurement Specialist to join our team in Nisku, AB. We are ideally looking for a candidate based in AB and living in proximity to our Nisku Shop.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director Supply Chain, the Senior Procurement Specialist is responsible for establishing formal contracts and strategic relationships with Suppliers for all spend associated to procurement of underground Mining Equipment & parts, Major Components, and Services.   

Responsibilities:

The Senior Procurement Specialist responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Define and develop plan to strategically approach all spend associated to sourcing of Equipment, Major Components & spare parts, and Services for underground mining. 

  • Execute formal go to market events based on significance of spend and priority to the business.  Objective is to meet a mandate of 80% of spend for this segment of spend managed on a formal Contracts. 

  • Compile and issue, evaluate RFx to market.

  • Subject matter expert for the development of bid templates, bid evaluation template, contract template for Supply Chain

  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and establish Preferred Suppliers for Equipment, Major Component, and Services required in support of Client projects. 

  • Maintain an annual contract plan to ensure contracts are maintained.  Expired contracts properly closed and stored, new and current contracts maintained and available based on spend and business requirements.  

  • Manage Contract Lifecycle (negotiation, formation, management, close)

  • Maintain regular interaction with Suppliers and manager supplier relationship based on priority/criticality. 

  • Propose and participate in continuous improvement opportunities related to process and technology.

  • Pre-emptively contact suppliers to ensure orders are on track for timely delivery.

  • Ensure accurate delivery dates are up to date in ERP database

  • Ensure all costs and specific/special terms are captured on PR/PO at time of issue of PO to supplier including but not limited to freight, progress payments/special payment terms, inspection requirements, and warranty conditions.    

  • Work closely with Equipment division, maintenance, operations, and Logistics team to ensure effective delivery and management of Equipment, Major components, and services. 

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Minimum 10+ years experience in Contracts & Procurement Mining Equipment, Major Components, and Services.
  • Contract negotiation and management experience related to Mining Equipment and Services.
  • Designation in Supply Chain, or business-related field.
  • Previous experience in working in mining & metals/ construction/engineering/energy industry 
  • Extensive experience in Supplier Relationship Management.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Contract Life Cycle Management.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft suite of products
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomouslyand a self-starter
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to deadlines in an organized fashion.
